Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

A prestigious global insurance business has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join a growing team 
and be responsible for quality assurance (manual and automated) of internally developed applications managed by the Enterprise Application Architecture team. 
Maintain knowledge and understanding of the latest testing tools, frameworks, methodologies and best practices, ensuring features meet acceptance criteria whilst minimising technical debt.

Key Responsibilities

• Define project specific test approaches in an innovative and robust fashion to illustrate how front-end functionality and system integrations will be validated against business requirements.
• Evaluate proposed functional requirements and acceptance criteria to be able to identify test requirements early on in the systems development life cycle.
• Define detailed, comprehensive and well-structure test plans including test scripts for acceptance criteria covering all types of testing, e.g. regression, functional, non-functional.Estimate, prioritise, plan and coordinate quality assurance activies.
• Execute testing against acceptance criteria, and provide test progress metrics to project stakeholders.
• Track quality assurance metrics, like number of defects by severity and open defect counts.Identify, record and thoroughly document defects / bugs identified during testing.
• Perform thororugh regression testing when bugs are resolved.
• Design, develop and execute automated tests and QA tools to help facilitate testing.
• Troubleshooting quality issues and modifying test procedures.
• Ensure timely completion of project milestones with help from the Head of Enterprise Application Architecture, identify scope creep, anticipate bottlenecks and escalate as appropriate.
• Standardise testing where possible for each application, identify areas which could benefit from test automation.
• Engage in R&D activities in regards to emerging technologies and their potential application to the Enterprise Application Architecture team’s Quality Assurance practice.

Essential Skills / Experience

• 5+ year’s quality assurance of web applications covering manual and automated testing.
• Extensive knowledge of JavaScript and RESTful APIs.
• Extensive experience with range of test automation frameworks, e.g. Protractor, Selenium Webdriver, Cypress.
• Extensive experience with SQL scripting to aid quality assurance.
• Exposure to C# using Visual Studio.Basic familiarity of Microsoft TFS / Azure DevOps.Ability to use version control software such as GIT.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.
• Pro-active, self-organiser who can plan detail of work to be undertaken and act to ensure it happens.
• Keen eye for detail, ability to scrutinise, think critically, and ask the right questions.
• Innovative mind-set with rigorous standards of quality.
• Problem analysis – identify root cause of issues and what impact this has on the systems / data.
• Previous experience of working within London Market Insurance would be highly advantageous
