Key responsibilities

 

Reserving

  • Manage the UK GAAP and Solvency II reserving best estimate calculations prior to review and sign off from Head of Reserving
  • Manage the review of claims data preparation and setting of methodology and assumptions for all perils
  • Assist reserving discussions with other areas of the business, including underwriting, reinsurance, finance and claims to generate reserving results
  • Manage the production of quarterly reserving documentation, presentation packs and reports
  • Provide assistance to the Finance, Claims, Reinsurance, Capital and Underwriting teams as appropriate
  • Supporting the reserving transformation project including:

- Assisting with the development or redevelopment of new or existing solutions within the reserving process

- Improving efficiency through automation using coding and programming better processes

- Helping to design, build and enhance actuarial analytics and reporting capabilities

- Building, developing and documenting streamlined & efficient processes using various technologies

Regulatory Reporting

  • Assist Finance in the production of Lloyd’s quarterly and annual management returns
  • Manage the production of Technical Provisions component of annual Actuarial Function Report prior to review and sign off from Head of Reserving
  • Support with production of associated reserving frameworks and policies
  • Liaise with external SAO actuaries and auditors

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience

  • Qualified member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
  • Previous experience of General Insurance reserving techniques and models.
  • Personal lines experience preferable
  • Minimum of a second class degree in a mathematical or science-based subject as well as good ‘A’ Levels (or equivalent) including at least one mathematical subject;
  • Experience of coding desirable such as MS Excel VBA , SQL, Python, R
